Older Adult Festival.

Tipperary Sports Partnership would like to offer Older Adults in County Tipperary the opportunity to participate in the Go for Life Festival on Monday 9th May in the Anner Hotel, Thurles.
There will be 4 physical activity demonstrations Scooch, Go For Life Games, Active Aging Exercises and Relaxation Workshop.
The aim of the Go for Life Festival is to involve a greater number of older adults in regular physical activity.
Date: Monday 9th May 2022
Time: 10.00am-1.00pm (followed by lunch)
Cost: €5 plus booking fee

Are You Ready to Click Into Gear for Bike Week 2022.
Bike Week 2022 takes place from May 14th to 22nd

Following a hugely successful Bike Week 2021, plans are back in motion to organise the week-long celebration of cycling throughout Tipperary for 2022.
Tipperary Bike Week is an integral part of the overall National Bike Week initiative and is coordinated locally by Tipperary Sports Partnership.

REC 3 First Aid Course

Tipperary Sports Partnership are delighted to facilitate REC 3 First Aid Course in the Clonmel area.
The Emergency Care outdoor first aid course (REC3) is designed to introduce a systematic method of applying Emergency Care to those that are found suddenly unwell or injured.
The method of learning is practically based intermixed with scenarios of real situations.
Cost €75 + booking fee.

Date: 23th and 24th April both days inclusive
Time: 9.00 to 17.30

Safeguarding 3 - Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop

Tipperary Sports Partnership is facilitating a Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Workshop via zoom on Monday 16th May, 2022 from 6.00-9.00pm.
The third part of the Sport Ireland Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop also known as Safeguarding 3.
Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children.

Tug of War. Pulling your Community together.

Tug of War Ireland (TOWI) is the National Governing body for Tug of War in the Republic of Ireland. They have just launched a new community initiative in line with their Strategic Plan to try to promote tug of war within communities. In the interests of supporting this initiative they have also launched funding for these new community clubs once set up, terms and conditions apply.

Lough Derg Adventure Challenge

Lough Derg Adventure Challenge planned for the 7th of May
The Lough Derg Adventure Challenge will be happening this May on the shores of Lough Derg. This is the ultimate in outdoor events where teams of two will bike, hike and paddle around scenic Lough Derg.
Adventure racing is a sport growing in popularity in Ireland and team adventure racing is a format where friends can race in teams of two together. Some of the activities included in team adventure races include biking, trekking, orienteering and kayaking.

Try Tennis for Women Programme

Tipperary Town Community Sports Hub are delighted to announce Try Tennis for Women 6 Week Programme at the Rosanna Lawn Tennis Club in Partnership with Tennis Ireland

This programme is aimed at women who want to be physically active, play tennis or try a new sport.

This Programme starts on Friday March 25th at 11am.

The cost of this programme is €25 for 6 weeks.

Women in Sport (WIS) week is taking place from March 7th– 13th. The aim of Women in Sport Week is to:

Celebrate every women and girl who plays, coaches, officiates, volunteers, works in and leads out on Women in Sport.
Promote and highlight the ongoing work of Sport Ireland, NGBs, LSPs and other stakeholders and clubs under the topic of Women in Sport.

This year’s Women in Sport is targeting four areas – Active Participation, Coaching and Officiating, Visibility & Leadership and Governance.

Lets Get Walking Ballina
A beautiful location for 8 weeks of amazing walks.
Join Sarah ……… our amazing Operation Transformation leader as she helps lead a group of walkers across some of Tipperary’s most beautiful walks.
This 8 week Walking Programme starts on 21st March 7.30pm at Riverside Car Park, Ballina.
This Programme will introduce the participants to all the trails in their local area including parts of the Lough Derg Way, East Clare Way, Ballycuggaran and Millennium Cross Walk.

Green Exercise Programme

Tipperary Sports Partnership are delighted to support the Green Exercise Programme which is a gentle and easy way to get moving and get back into exercise.
Join our walking group twice a week in Nenagh town, where your walking leader will include gentle warm-up exercises to get you ready for walking.
This programme starts on the 1st of March (Tuesday walks are at 2pm and Thursday walks at 12 noon)

New Inn Community Walk - 8 Week Programme

New Inn Community Walk 8 Week Programme
This Community Walk will start on Tuesday 22nd March at 3.30pm.
The meeting point is at New Inn Church Car Park.
Cost is €10 plus booking fee.
This 8 week programme will introduce the participants to all the trails in their local area.
The programme will take participants along parts of St. Declan’s Way, Tipperary Heritage Way, Scaragh Woods and High Kings Loop.
The walking programme is aimed at those who want to experience trail walking at a gentle pace.

Coaching Girls in Sport Workshop

In celebration of Women in Sports Week 7th - 13th March 2022 Tipperary Sports Partnership supported by Sports Ireland Coaching will deliver a Coaching Girls in Sport Workshop on Tuesday March 8th 6.30-9.30pm

This workshop has been developed by Sport Ireland Coaching to provide a professional development opportunity for coaches working in the area of sport and physical activity, and is specifically aimed at those coaching girls aged 12 – 17.

The OT leaders will be taking part in a 5k at the Phoenix Park in Dublin to mark the end of their OT journey this Saturday the 19th of February.
If you didn't get to register for the 5k, don't panic! Why not try one of the 5 Tipperary Park Runs Borrisokane, Burgess Junior, Clonmel, Knockanacree Woods and Templemore.

Walking Football Programme

Walking Football Programme
The Tipperary Town Community Sports Hub in partnership with the FAI are running a 6 week Walking Football Programme for Older Adults.
It will take place in the Canon Hayes indoor hall.
It starts on Tuesday March 1st and runs for 6 weeks, 10-11am. This event is free of charge
The walking football program is ideal for those looking to keep active and meet other people.

2022 National Grant Scheme for Sport and Physical Activity for Older People

The 2022 National Grant Scheme for Sport and Physical Activity for Older People is now open for applications.

The 2022 National Grant Scheme aims to assist in the implementation of locally developed, well planned initiatives designed to increase participation in recreational sport and physical activity by older people.

Grants are available to all eligible local clubs, groups and organisations that promote increased participation in recreational sport or physical activity for older people as a main element of their activities.
