Introduction to Mountain Navigation Skills
Are you ready to conquer the mountains? Join us for an exciting event where you'll be introduced to navigation skills needed for exploring the breathtaking wilderness.
Those taking part should have some experience in hill walking.
Our expert instructor will guide you through various techniques, including map reading, compass usage, and route planning.
You'll be given insights into giving your location using a grid reference and how to stay safe in the mountains.
The session will be lead by Maureen O’Brien. Maureen is a qualified Mountain Leader, Mountain Skills Trainer and Low Land Leader instructor (all approved by Mountaineering Ireland).
This will involve 4 hours of navigation on and around the Comeragh Mountains.
Those taking part should ensure that they are physically capable of participating in the entire event.

Time: 10:00 AM (GMT)
Starting Point: Carey's Castle Forest Recreation Area, Clonmel
Sanitary: This is an outdoor event in the Comeragh Mountains and there are no toilet facilities available at the meeting point or on the walk itself.
The cost of the programme is €15 + online booking fee.
Please note you must be over 18 years of age to take part in this programme.
Due to health and safety there will be no dogs allowed during the programme.
